Clientexec
Clientexec is a hosting-specific billing and operations platform that automates invoicing, domain provisioning, and support ticketing for agencies reselling hosting services. It connects natively to hosting control panels (cPanel, DirectAdmin, Plesk, InterWorx) and domain registrars (eNom, NameSilo, OpenSRS, NameCheap), eliminating manual account creation and registrar logins. The platform includes unified support ticketing, live chat, knowledgebase, and client portal functionality, plus revenue and growth reporting. Agencies can white-label the client portal and charge per-account retainers. It is not a general-purpose agency tool and adds no value for agencies that do not offer hosting or domain services.
Clientexec is a hosting-specific billing and operations platform, priced at $16.95/month on the Branded Leased plan, integrating with cPanel, DirectAdmin, Plesk, and InterWorx. InnovaAI scores it 9.2/10 for agency resale, fit for agencies with established service brands.
Agency Audit
Clientexec bundles hosting billing, domain provisioning, and support ticketing into a single platform, with native integrations to cPanel, DirectAdmin, Plesk, and domain registrars like eNom and NameSilo. It's purpose-built for agencies reselling hosting services, not a horizontal agency tool. Agencies offering managed hosting retainers can white-label the platform and charge clients per-account, but the fit is narrow: only relevant if your service delivery includes hosting infrastructure or domain management.

Clientexec generates recurring invoices, applies discounts and taxes, and collects payments via PayPal, Stripe, and other gateways. Agencies can set up subscription billing for hosting retainers without manual invoice creation.
Unified support ticketing
Email-to-ticket conversion, live chat, and knowledgebase articles consolidate client support requests in one system. Agencies can track support volume and response times without integrating a third-party helpdesk.

You need multi-currency invoicing or tax compliance for non-US clients; Clientexec's regional support is not documented.
Your hosting clients use platforms Clientexec does not integrate with (e.g., custom VPS providers, Kubernetes-based infrastructure).
Bottom Line
Clientexec bundles hosting billing, domain provisioning, and support ticketing into a single platform, with native integrations to cPanel, DirectAdmin, Plesk, and domain registrars like eNom and NameSilo. It's purpose-built for agencies reselling hosting services, not a horizontal agency tool. Agencies offering managed hosting retainers can white-label the platform and charge clients per-account, but the fit is narrow: only relevant if your service delivery includes hosting infrastructure or domain management.
Reality Check
Clientexec is a hosting-specific platform, not a general-purpose agency tool. If your clients don't need hosting or domain provisioning, this adds no value. Setup and support ticketing are built-in, but you cannot easily swap them for Zendesk or Intercom without losing integration depth.
Moderate effort: standard configuration with some customization needed

Why this category matters
The commercial case before the tooling.
Core concepts
The mental model you need to price and scope the work.
- Clientexec Hosting Margin ThresholdConcept
Clientexec is a specialized billing and management platform for agencies that resell hosting. Its value hinges on your hosting margin per client. With plans starting at $16.95 per month for the Branded Leased option, the platform only makes sense if your hosting retainers generate enough margin to cover this cost and still yield profit. For example, an agency managing 20 hosting clients at $30 per month each, with a 50% margin, earns $300 monthly, comfortably exceeding the platform fee. However, if your margins are thin, say $5 per client, the platform's cost erodes profitability. This framework helps agencies assess whether Clientexec's automation of invoicing, domain provisioning, and support ticketing justifies its expense. Use it to decide if Clientexec is a strategic asset or a cost burden for your hosting service delivery.
- Recurring Revenue CustodyConcept
Recurring Revenue Custody is the question of who holds the payment relationship, the tax liability, and the renewal trigger inside a client's subscription business. Three custody models exist. The agency can hold custody directly, running invoicing and dunning on infrastructure such as WHMCS or Blesta. A merchant-of-record can hold it, with Paddle absorbing global tax compliance across 300+ markets while the agency loses direct customer contact. Or the client retains custody and the agency operates the tooling, as with MemberPress or Memberful deployments on client-owned WordPress installs. Custody determines what happens when the engagement ends: an agency holding the billing relationship keeps leverage and data, while one operating inside a client's account walks away with nothing. Custody also carries liability. A class action filed in September 2026 accuses Anthropic of overselling Claude subscription capacity through deceptive usage multipliers, a reminder that whoever sells the subscription absorbs the dispute. Map custody before signing, not after.
- Merchant-of-Record BoundaryConcept
The Merchant-of-Record boundary is the line where tax liability, chargeback exposure, and payment failure handling stop being the agency's problem and start being the vendor's. On one side sit platforms like Paddle, which acts as the legal seller across 300+ markets and absorbs VAT, sales tax, and fraud disputes. On the other side sit gateway-based stacks like Chargebee or MemberPress, where the agency's client remains the merchant and owns every compliance obligation. The framework matters because agencies routinely quote a billing build without pricing the compliance work it creates. A client selling digital memberships into the EU can face registration thresholds in each member state; moving that client onto an MoR model removes the filings but adds roughly 5% of transaction value in fees. The trade is not cost versus no cost. It is predictable margin compression versus unbounded administrative exposure, and the right answer changes as the client's revenue mix shifts.
Decision and risk
How to judge the fit, and the ways it goes wrong.
- Clientexec Rule: Adopt Only If You Resell Hosting or DomainsEvaluation Rule
Adopt Clientexec only if your agency's service delivery includes hosting or domain management, and you need a white-labeled billing and support platform.
- Subscriptions & Billing Rule: Price the Exit Before You Price the PlanEvaluation Rule
Before signing or migrating, test the exit: export the full customer and invoice history, confirm the pricing models you will need in 18 months, and price the switch in hours and dollars.
- Clientexec: Buy vs Skip (Hosting Reseller Fit)Decision Framework
IF your agency resells hosting and needs automated invoicing, domain provisioning, and support ticketing in one dashboard, THEN Clientexec's Branded Leased plan at $16.95/month (or $19.95 for unbranded) is a low-cost fit. IF your clients don't require hosting or domain management, THEN skip it because the platform is purpose-built for hosting infrastructure, not general agency work.

What agencies say about Clientexec
“Somewhat difficult to setup trail version”
I'm currently using the trail version, and found it a bit some-what messy, and less straight forward to setup, having to switch pages. For first time setup (domain & hosting) it's not in one place, unable to setup a hosting package, it took some-time to overcome, only to discover there was no communication between clientexec and my reseller account, soon resolved, (but had to find the answer from another source). Linking to domain reseller took more time to resolve. As a suggestion, for a first time setup, why not create one screen/page to configure/link to a hosting reseller account or server, and another screen/page to link/configure to a domain name reseller? Rather than having to manually jump between different pages. Finally, why not offer a one-time licence fee, and an annual fee for update?

Answers about pricing, setup, implementation
Clientexec automates invoicing, client account management, domain provisioning, and support ticketing for hosting resellers and agencies. It integrates with hosting control panels (cPanel, DirectAdmin, Plesk, InterWorx), domain registrars (eNom, NameSilo, OpenSRS, NameCheap), and payment gateways (PayPal, Stripe) to let agencies manage hosting client accounts, billing, and support from one dashboard.
Clientexec offers 2 pricing tiers, starting at $16.95/mo (Branded Leased) up to $19.95/mo (Unbranded Leased). Agencies typically achieve 60% profit margins when reselling to clients.
Yes. The Branded Leased plan ($16.95/month) allows you to remove Clientexec branding from the client portal and reports. The Unbranded Leased plan ($19.95/month) provides full white-label capability. Both plans support unlimited clients, so you can resell hosting management to multiple clients under your own brand.
Yes. Clientexec has native integrations with cPanel, DirectAdmin, Plesk, and InterWorx. These integrations allow you to automate hosting account provisioning, sync account details, and manage resources without logging into each control panel separately.
Once your agency parent account is configured, provisioning a new hosting client account takes minutes. Domain registration via integrated registrars (eNom, NameSilo, OpenSRS, NameCheap) is automated. Setup time depends on whether you're migrating existing hosting or creating new accounts, but Clientexec eliminates manual provisioning steps.
Clientexec is designed for web hosting companies, agencies offering managed hosting services, and hosting resellers. It is not a fit for agencies that do not resell hosting or domain services. If your clients need hosting infrastructure, domain management, or billing automation for hosting retainers, Clientexec is relevant.
Clientexec is purpose-built for hosting and domain management. While it includes general invoicing and support ticketing, it lacks features for managing other service types (e.g., SEO, design, marketing retainers). If hosting is not part of your service mix, consider a horizontal agency platform instead.
Clientexec integrates with PayPal and Stripe for payment collection. Additional payment gateway integrations may be available; contact Clientexec support for a full list of supported processors.
